Essential Hair Accessory Tips

In the 80s, the hair accessory was invaluable. Almost every style involved some sort of hair accessory or embellishment to really set it off. Today, the hair accessory is not a part of everyday style and care should be taken as to when and how to use the hair accessory so that you will not look dated, I'm not saying the 80's style won't come back because to be honest they truly rocked!

With that said, there are some occasions that scream for hair accessories: Work, social occasions and formal events may all have you searching for the perfect hair accessory to set off your look. While different occasions will call for different hair accessories, a good rule of thumb to follow is to choose the sedate hair accessory over one that could not go unnoticed in a crowd of a few hundred or a few thousand.

While choosing the right one can be tricky, there are a few pointers that you can follow to help you pick the perfect hair accessories to complete your look. Here are just a few:

  • Work. In many work situations, you will likely have to wear your hair up. No matter if your type of employment requires it or you simply like to change your look now and then, wearing your hair up calls for the right hair accessory to do the job. The number one rule to finding the right hair accessory for work is to avoid banana clips at all costs. I mean, who still makes these things? Apparently they're making money at it or they wouldn't still be producing these torture devices of the 80s. Don't further their cause: stop buying this hair accessory. The second rule is to choose hair accessories that closely match your hair color or that blend nicely with it. Matching a hair accessory to your clothes is only cute when you are 5-years-old. What you choose will depend largely on your length of hair and how you like to wear your hair up. For French twists, choose hair accessories that resemble over-sized hair clips. Simply twist and clip.

  • Social and formal occasions. In social and formal occasions you have a greater opportunity to express your artsy side through hair accessories. Again, choose sedate pieces over garish hair accessories. Classy pieces can be perfect for social occasions, whereas a little sprig of flowers or garnishment may be needed for formal occasions. Formal occasions are the only time that is okay to match your hair accessory to your clothing. But still, do not go overboard. What attracts the eye should be the beauty of your hair, not too-busy hair accessories. If in doubt about what hair accessory or how much of it to include, opt for the simple solution: use as little as possible.

The bottom line with hair accessories is that too much of a good thing can confuse the eye and make your do look garish. Simple hair accessories, on the other hand, can make a bold beauty statement that makes your hair the talk of the office or party.

How To Apply Eyeliner

My makeup for a night out, eye-liner on point.
Apply Eyeliner Like A Professional

Many people think they already know how to apply eyeliner, and by all rights, they do a good job.  In actuality, there is a big difference between the way you might apply eyeliner and the way a professional make-up artist does.  Use these easy-to-follow steps and you can apply eyeliner like a professional make-up artist:

1.  Select your eyeliner

An eyeliner must be applied near the base of your eyelashes. As there are varying products in the market such as cake eyeliner, liquid liner and pencil eyeliner, it is important to try each type so that you will know which type will best accentuate your own natural beauty.  Also, to whatever type you prefer, practice the application so you can achieve a very fine line. Remember that it is not a pretty sight when you apply eyeliner in a very thick line. It will look harsh, at the same time loud, making your eyes as well as giving it a tired and heavy impression. Always bear in mind that a thin line is recommended - should you have any trouble applying it, a brush is helpful to smooth out the line and to blend it well.

Liquid eye liner.

Eyeliner shapes to try!
Liquid eyeliners are recommended to be used and should only be used above the top of the eye lashes, whereas an eye shadow or an eye lining pencil is suggested to be used under the eyes lower lashes. This kind comes usually in a bottle with an application brush, almost similar to an ink.  This requires great precision during application, but can be perfected through constant practice. A note to remember is to always let the liquid dry before you open your eyes after application - if not, the liquid may smear the top of your eyes and give you a raccoon look.

Eye liner pencil

The easiest to use, works just like colored pencil.  As the tip of this liner is dry, it has a tendency of pulling your eyelids fragile tissues; stretching the eyelids when lining it could help a lot in achieving a smooth application.  A note to remember, you should always sharpen the pencil before every application to eliminate any bacteria that has accumulated at the tip.

Permanent eyeliner

This is can be created through cosmetic surgery.  This procedure is known as micro pigmentation, a technique that adds a defined line to the lid which with a handheld device used to puncture the skin several times a minute with a very thin needle that pushes color pigments to the position that is desired.

2.  Apply the eyeliner

- Begin at the inner corner of your eye.  Always be certain to use a light hand when applying your eyeliner, as the area around the eyes is very sensitive and delicate.

- Put on your eyeliner only after you have already applied an eye shadow.  Doing it before an eye shadow application would only cover the eyeliner.

- To achieve a dramatic and intense look, a kohl pencil with a color can be applied above as well as below the lashes, and then followed with black or very dark gray liquid eyeliner at the top. This will give the impression of dark eye lashes and will stay on for the whole day. A dark colored eye-liner will highlight the eyes form and outline as well as give them a deep look.

- While holding your head back facing the mirror, look down so that your eyelids will become tight making it easier in applying and controlling the liner. When necessary, smudge.

Top Liner Only!
- The eyes will seem larger when you make a line with a pencil under your lower lashes - instead try a dark eye shadow applied with the help of a tiny makeup brush, to give an illusion of darker and fuller eye lashes. Below such line, you need to apply also a thin line with a lighter shade of eye shadow, preferably white, yellow or beige to brighten up your eye area.

- Pencil liners may be used on both above the top lashes as well as under the lower lashes. Liquid eye liners however, must only be applied on the top lid. Cake eyeliners are applied with water and may be put on to both the top and so too the bottom of the lid.

- If you have beautiful green eyes, try putting on a violet smoky pencil that will enhance your eyes, since basing from the color wheel, violet and green are opposite, so they will compliment each other.

- Refer to nature when you are in a process of deciding on a color. Green, beige and burnt orange are autumn colors.

- Others prefer using an eye liner not only for the eyes, but the lips as well.  Should you decide on this, an eye lining pencil will be most suitable for the application. Make sure though, that you choose a certain shade of somewhat reddish brown or orangey-brown or a brownish plum, to compliment and flatter your lipstick.

B Vitamins And Acne

How does all the B vitamins (b5, b6, b12, etc.) help acne?

Unlike the other acne fighting vitamins that have been mentioned, the B Vitamins are unique. The B Vitamins include many different vitamins that are all clumped together both in their name and usually in how they are taken. B Vitamin supplements almost always come in a B Complex form due to the fact that each B Vitamin has its own benefits to the body. In fact, those considering using supplements to fight their acne should definitely go with B Complex vitamins since not only to they help with acne but also simply due to all the other positive effects they have in maintaining a healthy body. In actuality, the B Vitamins are more like "super-vitamins" due to their many uses.

Since each B Vitamin contributes in a variety of ways to the fight against acne, this article will discuss each different B Vitamin that is involved in helping to maintain clear, healthy skin. Arguably the best aspect of these B Vitamins is that there are so many, they are almost always taken in conjunction, and they have so many uses in the body besides fighting acne and keeping skin nice and clean.

Here is a breakdown of the B Vitamins:

Thiamine (Vitamin B1) -- Thiamine is an antioxidant and it helps to rid the body, and the skin, of toxins and free radicals, therefore helping to keep the skin clear and acne free. It also enhances circulation and helps with digestion.

Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) -- Riboflavin is essential for maintaining healthy skin, hair, and nails. It helps to strengthen and repair the skin and helps to prevent acne from forming. In addition, Riboflavin also works with Vitamin A to promote a healthy digestive tract.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) -- Niacinamide is essential for maintaining healthy skin and helps to improve circulation. It helps to prevent acne from forming and spreading. It also helps the metabolism break down carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.

Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) -- Pantothenic acid greatly helps in reducing stress. Stress is a leading cause of acne breakouts and pantothenic acid can help to keep it under control. It is also needed for proper functioning of the adrenal glands.

Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) -- Pyridoxine is extremely important in the functioning of the immune system and of antibody production. It also helps to fight acne.

Cobalamin (Vitamin B12) -- Works in conjunction with other vitamins and enhances their effects and helps them to better maintain healthy, clear skin. On its own, also helps to increase energy and helps to maintain healthy nerve cells.

A vitamin deficiency in many of these alone can lead to breakouts of acne. Thankfully, these vitamins almost always come together in Vitamin B Complex's which can be purchased easily. Making sure that one gets enough B Vitamins is crucial in maintaining healthy skin and fighting acne.

Are You Sugar Scrubbing Yet?

Sugar Scrubbing is a gentle way to exfoliate the skin just about anywhere on your body. A basic sugar scrub includes of course sugar and some sort of liquid and lotion or moisturizer. For a very simple sugar scrub mix some sugar with enough of your favorite body lotion to form a paste that's easy to rub into your skin.

But why would you want to use a sugar scrub in the first place? Sugar scrubbing is a great way to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating removes dead skin particles, as well as any oil and residue. This will soften your skin and preparing it for anything else to follow such as a moisturizer. A sugar scrub stimulates the lymph system, which is responsible for eliminating toxins out of the body. The gentle massage of rubbing a sugar scrub into your skin also improves the circulation of the blood right under your skin, giving you that healthy glow.

Start your sugar scrubbing treatment by cleaning your skin with a gentle soap or other cleanser and warm water. Then grab a handful of the sugar scrub and massage it into your skin in circular motion. The grainy sugar will gently exfoliate your skin. Rinse the sugar off with plenty of cool water and use some more cleanser to get any sugary residue off your skin. Gently pat your skin dry with a soft, clean towel and follow with your favorite moisturizer. You should use a sugar scrub to exfoliate once or twice a week as needed to maintain that soft skin and healthy glow.

Are you ready to give sugar scrubbing a try? Here are some great recipes you can put together in no time at all and give this a try.

Invigorating Lemon Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:

1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp lemon juice
3 - 5 drops of peppermint essential oil

Combine all ingredients to form a paste. Rub it into your skin in a circular motion and rinse.

Tip - For a calming sugar scrub, replace the peppermint essential oil with lavender or rosemary oil.

Almond Grapefruit Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:

1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of almond oil
5-10 drops of grapefruit essential oil

Mix the sugar and almond oil until well combined, then slowly add the grapefruit essential oil drop by drop until you get the desired fragrance. Use like the sugar scrub above.

Give sugar scrubbing a try. You'll be amazed at the results this simple beauty treatment provides. Not only will your skin get soft and glowing, but the scents in your sugar scrub uplift your spirits as well. Before you know it you'll be mixing sugar scrubs on a weekly basis, experimenting with different oils or lotions and using different essential oils.

Enhancing Beauty And Health With Essential Oils

In today's hectic and fast-paced life, it's important to spend some "me" time pampering and relaxing yourself. Today, there are numerous relaxation options available as well as several ways to relieve stress, enjoy and rejuvenate your senses and body. A great way to experience a heaven-like, self-indulgent beauty treatment is at a day spa or a beauty salon. Beauty professionals use 100% natural and pure oils extracted from plants and herbs, known as essential oils, to cure, heal, and energize your body.

Need for Essential Oils
A good body massage at the hands of an experienced masseur is not just physically rewarding, but also
emotionally advantageous to your body. Massage and body massage oils are perfect for pampering and relieving the stress and tension of your body and mind. Essential oil blends are the traditional and age-old cures to enhance the feeling of being healthy, vitalized, as well as spread a general sense of positivity and goodwill. Essential massage oils, when used for massages, not only moisturize the skin, but also ease muscle tension and help you de-stress and relax.

Essential oils such as Orange, Lemon, and others are full of rich minerals and vitamins. There composition is such that they can be absorbed by the skin with ease and offer deep-tissue treatments for the body. You can use aromatherapy essential oils as home spa oils as well. These oils are perfect for use as bath oils and after bath moisturizing.

History of Essential Oils
History of essential oils is as unique and interesting as the oils themselves. Used by the early civilizations such as Indians, Chinese, Egyptians, and Babylonians essential oils have also been mentioned in the Bible. The ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and some Chinese manuscripts have records of physicians and priests using oils extracted from plans to make some of the earliest known medicines. These oils were also used for protection against diseases and for curing wounds and ache as well as during religious ceremonies, embalming the dead, and as perfumes!

Several royalties such as Cleopatra was fully aware of the power of essential oils and would use them to attract men towards her. She also used them for a glowing, supple skin and thick, dark, lustrous hair.

Extraction of Essential Oils
All-natural and pure essential oils are aromatic or fragrant extracts of trees, flowers, herbs, spices, bark, fruits, seeds, and fibers by the process of distillation, or solvent extraction. Since essential oils are essential to the plants‚ growth process and to the substances that give them their special fragrance, they are also known as "life force." There are more than 150 different types of essential oils that are used in aromatherapy. Some of the essential oils are more expensive than others. This could be due to the rarity of the sources or the complexity of the extraction process. Emu Oil, extracted from Emu bird is very expensive but excellent for the skin, wrinkles, and overall beauty. On the other hand, orange, lemon, sage, rosemary, patchouli, and others are fairly inexpensive and easily available in the supermarkets.

Benefits of Essential Oils
Essential oils are wonderful for us. Not only because they are completely natural and don't have any
side effects, but also because they give us more than physical relief. If you use essential oils on a regular basis, you will feel healthier, fitter, mentally stronger, psychologically more in control, besides having a higher immunity level against common illnesses such as colds, fevers, allergies etc.

Different essential oils offer different benefits. Some may offer unique healing, antiseptic properties while others may offer anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, expectorating, and diuretic properties. You must seek an aroma therapist before buying an essential oil for treating a serious ailment.

However, you may use the more common essential oils such as Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Rosemary, Tea-tree, Ylang Ylang for relaxation and enjoyment as well.

Some Essential Oils for Health and Beauty
We thought with all this talk about essential oils, you may now just want to know which ones you can buy without having to peel through layers of research for spending money on consulting a professional. And remember, each of these essential beauty oils have their own healing properties that offer your skin a rosy and healthy glow. So here goes:

1. Sunflower Oil - Grown by American Indians for 1000s of years, this oil is extracted from sunflower seeds and is rich in minerals and in Vitamins A, and E.

2. Olive Oil- One of the most cherished, valuable, and powerful multi-use beauty/health oil, it has also been called "liquid gold‚" due to its miraculous powers for improving the texture and appearance of your skin. Olive oil leaves your skin feeling soft and your complexion glowing due to the high mineral content, Vitamin E, and vital fatty acids!

3. Jojoba Oil - Obtained from the seeds of the desert plant Jojoba, the oil is light and waxy. Excessively being used as a humectant, Jojoba oil creates a protective layer on the surface of your skin to lock the moisture in so that your skin stay hydrated and soft even in winter!

Essential oils are a perfect way to look beautiful and stay healthy for longer!

Good news for many women is word that looking both stylish and more slim can be easier than you think. That's important, as one recent study discovered. Yayi Cosmetics Review

In my quest to discover and experiment with different brands, today I bring you a review of Yayi Cosmetics! This line is relatively new and is created by Yayi, and to be honest, I've heard very little about this brand in the online beauty community. I first found Yayi Cosmetics on Instagram where I followed as a recommendation, as curiosity usually gets the better of me, I reached out to her so that I may learn a little bit more about her line. She was so nice through emails and her social media, she sent me a Yayi Box of samples for me to try! When I first received this Box in the mail the presentation was absolutely beautiful!
BB CREAM LIGHT & MEDIUM

Let's start with the BB Creams, although the light was too light, the medium was actually right on point with my skin tone. I really liked the feel of it on my skin and it didn't feel too heavy.

ENZYME PROTECTION DAY CREAM SPF 30

The Enzyme Protection cream with SPF is probably my most favorite of the samples. Its hydrating and light under my makeup. Smells very good and I like the fact that it has SPF to protect my skin from the harmful rays.

HYDRATING CLEANSER

The hydrating cleanser felt nice on my skin and my face did feel hydrated. I used it wth my Clarisonic Mia and it felt great, my face felt clean and I liked the softness I was left with.

SPICED APPLE LUXARY GLOSS

The glosses reminds me of Christmas with its spicy scent. It looks very beautiful on the lips not too much so it can be worn by itself during the day. And it has a nice Shimmer you can put ontop of a lipstick for a more bold night-time look!

OVERALL
Overall, I am very impressed with this line. For it is a small cosmetics company, its definitely on the right path and I reccomend the products 100%!

You can Find YAYI COSMETICS on Instagram @yayi_cosmetics or on their online store www.YAYICOSMETICS.com

Eight Beauty Kit Must Haves

A single trip to the make up store can easily set you back hundreds of dollars. If you invest in good products that will truly make a positive difference in your look, then consider the money well spent.  The problem is when you stock up on beauty products that you don't use because you realize you don't need them or worse, they're the wrong beauty products for you.

Here is a list of the eight must-have items for your make-up kit.  The specific brand you will choose will depend on your budget, your preferences and your skin type, but this should serve as your guideline as to what you really need.  Following this list will save you from making unnecessary make-up purchases.

1. Tinted moisturizer - unless you're going to a dinner party or a photo shoot, you don't really need to pile on the makeup. Instead of using foundation (liquid or cake), purchase a good tinted moisturizer. Tinted moisturizers give your skin an even, clean, natural look.  It also gives you the added benefit of moisturizing your skin.

2. Tweezers - there is nothing like clean brows to give your face an instant face-lift. With the right brow shape, your face can look young and clean. The best tweezers are relatively cheap so they will probably be the cheapest must-have in your make-up kit. Good tweezers can last you many years.

3. Eyelash curler - Bright, clear, open eyes can make a big difference in a person's look. Curled lashes help in showcasing beautiful eyes.

4. Blush - Healthy flushed cheeks can make a person look absolutely gorgeous, and can complete a person's natural look. There are a number of blushes available in the market in different forms: powder, gel, pencil and others.  Some products, even work as both cheek and lip tints.

5. Lipstick - Select a good shade of lipstick that can take you from day to night.  You can get several shades of lipstick because there are plenty of inexpensive brands available, but you must have one lipstick shade that can work for all your outfits and for different occasions.  Once you find a shade that works for your skin tone and your outfits, make sure to get a fresh tube as soon as it runs out. This lipstick will be your signature shade, something you donít have to think twice about putting on when youíre in a rush.

6. Eyeliner - eyeliners can be used to line eyelids or define eyebrows.  It can make your eyes look bigger or smaller depending on your preference.  Pencil eyeliners are great because they are inexpensive and they don't drip.

7. Lip glosses - for days when you don't feel like wearing make-up but can not step out of the house looking unkempt, lip gloss can add an instant "oomph" to your look.  Lip glosses are also great when you need to do quick touch ups.

8. Mascara - applying mascara can make a person look extra glamorous with very little effort. Invest in a good mascara to give your eyes an instant "pop".  Mascaras are also great for when you want the more dramatic effect of smoky eyes.
