How To Apply Eyeliner

My makeup for a night out, eye-liner on point.
Apply Eyeliner Like A Professional

Many people think they already know how to apply eyeliner, and by all rights, they do a good job.  In actuality, there is a big difference between the way you might apply eyeliner and the way a professional make-up artist does.  Use these easy-to-follow steps and you can apply eyeliner like a professional make-up artist:

1.  Select your eyeliner

An eyeliner must be applied near the base of your eyelashes. As there are varying products in the market such as cake eyeliner, liquid liner and pencil eyeliner, it is important to try each type so that you will know which type will best accentuate your own natural beauty.  Also, to whatever type you prefer, practice the application so you can achieve a very fine line. Remember that it is not a pretty sight when you apply eyeliner in a very thick line. It will look harsh, at the same time loud, making your eyes as well as giving it a tired and heavy impression. Always bear in mind that a thin line is recommended - should you have any trouble applying it, a brush is helpful to smooth out the line and to blend it well.

Liquid eye liner.

Eyeliner shapes to try!
Liquid eyeliners are recommended to be used and should only be used above the top of the eye lashes, whereas an eye shadow or an eye lining pencil is suggested to be used under the eyes lower lashes. This kind comes usually in a bottle with an application brush, almost similar to an ink.  This requires great precision during application, but can be perfected through constant practice. A note to remember is to always let the liquid dry before you open your eyes after application - if not, the liquid may smear the top of your eyes and give you a raccoon look.

Eye liner pencil

The easiest to use, works just like colored pencil.  As the tip of this liner is dry, it has a tendency of pulling your eyelids fragile tissues; stretching the eyelids when lining it could help a lot in achieving a smooth application.  A note to remember, you should always sharpen the pencil before every application to eliminate any bacteria that has accumulated at the tip.

Permanent eyeliner

This is can be created through cosmetic surgery.  This procedure is known as micro pigmentation, a technique that adds a defined line to the lid which with a handheld device used to puncture the skin several times a minute with a very thin needle that pushes color pigments to the position that is desired.

2.  Apply the eyeliner

- Begin at the inner corner of your eye.  Always be certain to use a light hand when applying your eyeliner, as the area around the eyes is very sensitive and delicate.

- Put on your eyeliner only after you have already applied an eye shadow.  Doing it before an eye shadow application would only cover the eyeliner.

- To achieve a dramatic and intense look, a kohl pencil with a color can be applied above as well as below the lashes, and then followed with black or very dark gray liquid eyeliner at the top. This will give the impression of dark eye lashes and will stay on for the whole day. A dark colored eye-liner will highlight the eyes form and outline as well as give them a deep look.

- While holding your head back facing the mirror, look down so that your eyelids will become tight making it easier in applying and controlling the liner. When necessary, smudge.

Top Liner Only!
- The eyes will seem larger when you make a line with a pencil under your lower lashes - instead try a dark eye shadow applied with the help of a tiny makeup brush, to give an illusion of darker and fuller eye lashes. Below such line, you need to apply also a thin line with a lighter shade of eye shadow, preferably white, yellow or beige to brighten up your eye area.

- Pencil liners may be used on both above the top lashes as well as under the lower lashes. Liquid eye liners however, must only be applied on the top lid. Cake eyeliners are applied with water and may be put on to both the top and so too the bottom of the lid.

- If you have beautiful green eyes, try putting on a violet smoky pencil that will enhance your eyes, since basing from the color wheel, violet and green are opposite, so they will compliment each other.

- Refer to nature when you are in a process of deciding on a color. Green, beige and burnt orange are autumn colors.

- Others prefer using an eye liner not only for the eyes, but the lips as well.  Should you decide on this, an eye lining pencil will be most suitable for the application. Make sure though, that you choose a certain shade of somewhat reddish brown or orangey-brown or a brownish plum, to compliment and flatter your lipstick.

Yayi Cosmetics Review

In my quest to discover and experiment with different brands, today I bring you a review of Yayi Cosmetics! This line is relatively new and is created by Yayi, and to be honest, I've heard very little about this brand in the online beauty community. I first found Yayi Cosmetics on Instagram where I followed as a recommendation, as curiosity usually gets the better of me, I reached out to her so that I may learn a little bit more about her line. She was so nice through emails and her social media, she sent me a Yayi Box of samples for me to try! When I first received this Box in the mail the presentation was absolutely beautiful!
BB CREAM LIGHT & MEDIUM

Let's start with the BB Creams, although the light was too light, the medium was actually right on point with my skin tone. I really liked the feel of it on my skin and it didn't feel too heavy.

ENZYME PROTECTION DAY CREAM SPF 30

The Enzyme Protection cream with SPF is probably my most favorite of the samples. Its hydrating and light under my makeup. Smells very good and I like the fact that it has SPF to protect my skin from the harmful rays.

HYDRATING CLEANSER

The hydrating cleanser felt nice on my skin and my face did feel hydrated. I used it wth my Clarisonic Mia and it felt great, my face felt clean and I liked the softness I was left with.

SPICED APPLE LUXARY GLOSS

The glosses reminds me of Christmas with its spicy scent. It looks very beautiful on the lips not too much so it can be worn by itself during the day. And it has a nice Shimmer you can put ontop of a lipstick for a more bold night-time look!

OVERALL
Overall, I am very impressed with this line. For it is a small cosmetics company, its definitely on the right path and I reccomend the products 100%!

You can Find YAYI COSMETICS on Instagram @yayi_cosmetics or on their online store www.YAYICOSMETICS.com

Eight Beauty Kit Must Haves

A single trip to the make up store can easily set you back hundreds of dollars. If you invest in good products that will truly make a positive difference in your look, then consider the money well spent.  The problem is when you stock up on beauty products that you don't use because you realize you don't need them or worse, they're the wrong beauty products for you.

Here is a list of the eight must-have items for your make-up kit.  The specific brand you will choose will depend on your budget, your preferences and your skin type, but this should serve as your guideline as to what you really need.  Following this list will save you from making unnecessary make-up purchases.

1. Tinted moisturizer - unless you're going to a dinner party or a photo shoot, you don't really need to pile on the makeup. Instead of using foundation (liquid or cake), purchase a good tinted moisturizer. Tinted moisturizers give your skin an even, clean, natural look.  It also gives you the added benefit of moisturizing your skin.

2. Tweezers - there is nothing like clean brows to give your face an instant face-lift. With the right brow shape, your face can look young and clean. The best tweezers are relatively cheap so they will probably be the cheapest must-have in your make-up kit. Good tweezers can last you many years.

3. Eyelash curler - Bright, clear, open eyes can make a big difference in a person's look. Curled lashes help in showcasing beautiful eyes.

4. Blush - Healthy flushed cheeks can make a person look absolutely gorgeous, and can complete a person's natural look. There are a number of blushes available in the market in different forms: powder, gel, pencil and others.  Some products, even work as both cheek and lip tints.

5. Lipstick - Select a good shade of lipstick that can take you from day to night.  You can get several shades of lipstick because there are plenty of inexpensive brands available, but you must have one lipstick shade that can work for all your outfits and for different occasions.  Once you find a shade that works for your skin tone and your outfits, make sure to get a fresh tube as soon as it runs out. This lipstick will be your signature shade, something you donĂt have to think twice about putting on when youĂre in a rush.

6. Eyeliner - eyeliners can be used to line eyelids or define eyebrows.  It can make your eyes look bigger or smaller depending on your preference.  Pencil eyeliners are great because they are inexpensive and they don't drip.

7. Lip glosses - for days when you don't feel like wearing make-up but can not step out of the house looking unkempt, lip gloss can add an instant "oomph" to your look.  Lip glosses are also great when you need to do quick touch ups.

8. Mascara - applying mascara can make a person look extra glamorous with very little effort. Invest in a good mascara to give your eyes an instant "pop".  Mascaras are also great for when you want the more dramatic effect of smoky eyes.

The Quest for Beauty on a Budget

One thing is for sure, even if different societies have different standards for beauty we all strive to achieve a certain standard. Whether it is a simple one we have set for ourselves or the sometimes almost impossible standard imposed on us by the media, we all go on that all important quest for beauty.

The desire to look good is inherent in all of us although some people are more diligent in acting on this desire. Sometimes in our minds, we want to look a certain way but our bodies and nature fail us. Sometimes, it takes too much time which some of us don't have. Looking good can mean a lot of time spent on "rituals" and it can also mean a lot of good dollar spent on beauty and cosmetic products.

There are just so many products that one has to use to stay beautiful especially if one is not genetically lucky to have been born with good skin, good hair or a great body to begin with.

The key in looking good is to take the best possible care of the body by leading a healthy lifestyle and using beauty products that provide the best and most consistent results. This will entail a lot of discipline in your part as leading a totally healthy lifestyle is not the easiest thing in the world. As for using the best beauty products in the market, this will require a lot of research and testing as you need to find what works for you.  All products have different effects for people as the body's chemicals reacts with the products chemical make-up. Some products that work magnificently for one person may not work for another.

To find the best cosmetic and beauty products available in the world, go online and read forums and reviews on specific products. You can search for a specific product targeting your specific beauty concern and read up on the available products in the market. Then you can read up on independent consumer reviews and opinions.  Looking for beauty products online will also help you find products you have not previously heard of.

Once you have chosen all the products you need to help you look and feel your best, use the internet to
find the best deal on beauty products online. There are plenty of websites offering a wide range of beauty products from hair care to nail products. Compare prices so that you can get the best beauty deal online. There are a lot of benefits to shopping for beauty products online. You can do the whole thing at the comforts of your own home and you can also get enormous discounts from online retailers. You also get the products directly in your mail which saves you time.

It may be best to try to get product samples before you purchase a product and once youĂre sure it's the best brand for you, you can order them online.  Online retailers are able to extend generous discounts because they do not maintain a physical store and have less overhead and operational costs.

The Perfect Lipstick Color For You

Have you ever sat in front of your dresser mirror applying your makeup and redoing your lipstick because you hated the lipstick color that you got?

Many women find choosing the lipstick color that is just right for their lips and skin tone a little confusing.  It does not help that there are probably thousands of shades of lipstick colors out there, which makes the process of choosing the perfect lipstick color for your lips a little more complicated than it should be.  However, if you knew how to look, you would be surprised at how easy finding this perfect lipstick color is.

The Trick to Finding the Perfect Lipstick Color

The trick to finding the perfect lipstick color for your lips is simply this: get a lipstick color that is a shade or two darker than the natural color of your lips.  It is as simple as that.

Now, of course you would want to figure out just what kind of lipstick color would compliment the tone of your skin.  As a rule of thumb, if you have fair skin, you should go with soft pinks and corals to match the pinkish tone of your skin.  Apricot would be a nice lipstick color too if you are fair-skinned.

If your skin has olive tones, the lipstick color that would suit you would be something that has tones of rose or mauve.  If you have dark skin, you should pick lipstick colors with deep reds, deep browns or chocolate.

The Right Way of Buying a Lipstick

Now that you know what lipstick color you should go for, how do you determine if the lipstick you are thinking of buying is the perfect color?  The answer to that is that you should try the lipstick on.

However, never ever apply the sample lipstick directly to your lips.  That is very yucky.  You would never know how long that lipstick has been exposed to dust and dirt and putting it directly to your lips may cause you to take in germs into your system.  Instead of putting the lipstick directly to your lips, just swipe it against your finger or your palm.

There are some stores where it would not be possible for you to take a swipe of the sample lipstick on your skin because the sample lipstick is not available.  In that case, what you need to do is to just hold the product against your face and take a look at yourself at the mirror.  That will help you determine if the lipstick color is just right for the tone of your skin.

Do Not Stick to Just Lipstick

When you shop for makeup, do not limit yourself to just the lipstick.  Get yourself a few lip liners as well.  Lip liners are very helpful because they trace the natural line of your lips and prevent the lipstick from bleeding away from your lips.  Take care to buy lip liners that are a shade lighter than the lipstick colors you will blend them with.  You can also go for a nude lip liner if you think figuring out what color of lip liner would match your lipstick color is just too much work for you.

Another tool that could come handy when you are applying makeup is a lipstick brush.  A lipstick brush is good if you are the type who wants to put on just a thin layer of lipstick instead of slathering it across your lips.  A lipstick brush is also more hygienic than dabbing your fingers on the lipstick and then rubbing it on your lips.  In using a lipstick brush, you minimize the need for kissing tissue to get rid of excess lipstick on your lips, as well as to prevent it from getting to your teeth.

Got the Wrong Lipstick Color?

Sometimes, even though you are sure that the color of the lipstick that you got from the store is the right one for your skin tone, there are times that when you actually get to use it, you would find that it is not really the right shade for you, or you simply do not like the way it looks against your skin.  Do not despair, though.  You can still make use of that lipstick.  You do not have to waste money by throwing it away.

What you do in this situation is to get your lipstick brush and blend this unwanted lipstick color with your other lipsticks.  In this way, you would be able to create a shade of color that would be more to your liking.  You get a new shade of lipstick without buying a new one or throwing one away.

Makeup and Skin Care

Makeup and skin care is generally regarded as women's forte. Men seldom indulge in Makeup and skin care. Many men do care for their skin, but make up is alien to most men. Treating makeup and skin care as different topics wouldn't make sense; after all, make up will work only if the skin is healthy. So how do you exercise makeup and skin care, together?

Here are some tips for makeup and skin care:

1. Always have skin care on mind, whether you are buying products for makeup or actually applying them onto your skin after you have bought them. So what you are buying is a makeup and skin care product, not just a makeup product. Check the ingredients to see if it contains things that you might be allergic to. Also check if it contains high concentration chemicals that can harm your skin.

2. Makeup and skin care is also about testing the products before using them. So, apply the makeup on a small patch of skin e.g. earlobes and check how your skin reacts to it.

3. Keep track of expiry date on your make up products and never use them beyond the expiry date. In fact some products (e.g. vitamin C based products), if not stored properly, get spoilt much earlier than the expiry date.

4. Cleanliness is an important part of makeup and skin care procedure. Sharpen your eye-liners regularly and keep all your makeup equipment clean at all times. You might fix a date, each month, for overhauling of your equipment. As part of cleanliness, your makeup and skin care procedure should also include keeping your hair clean at all times.

5. Nail care is another important aspect of makeup and skin care. Use a good quality nail polish and always keep your nails clean. Once you are done with cleaning and polishing your nails, you should rub in cuticle oil at the edges of the nail.

6. If you have deep-set eyes, you should use a liquid eyeliner instead of a pencil one. This will prevent smudging at the deep edges of your eye-lid.

7. If you have a skin disorder e.g. acne, you should not apply heavy or chemical based make up. Consult your dermatologist if you are not sure about the make up products that you can use while you have acne or other skin disorder. Never try to squeeze pimples/ acne. Remember that makeup and skin care should not conflict each other.

8. Use a mild make up remover (instead of just washing it away).

9. Another important makeup and skin care
procedure is the following golden rule: Never sleep with your makeup on... I am guilty of this, but I definitely have learned and stopped that bad habit. No matter how tired you are take some time before bed to always remove your makeup.

10. While applying a deodorant, make sure that you maintain the recommended distance between the nozzle and your skin (as mentioned on the deodorant pack).

So, makeup and skin care should always go hand in hand. Do not try to treat makeup and skin care differently.

Mature Makeover: Look Beautiful No Matter What Your Age.

As many women age, they may find they have to rethink a cosmetics routine that no longer suits their changing skin. Age spots, increased dryness and loss of vibrancy are some of the specific issues facing the 50+ woman.

I believe maturing women can look better than ever; they just need to switch up their makeup as they would their wardrobe. All it takes is a little know-how and the right products:

  • Prepare Your Palette. Primers prep the skin for makeup application by evening-out the skin's surface, filling in lines and concealing any imperfections. I always use face, eye and lip primers before applying color cosmetics. The key for 50+ women is to look for products that offer hydrating formulas to ease drying skin, and light-reflecting ingredients to diffuse lines, for a smoother, more even appearance.
  • Bring Back Color. Many women in their 50's find that their skin becomes dry and sallow and it has lost its natural radiance and color. I recommend using hydrating products that help energize your look, such as the Vital Radiance Line Softening Makeup-Rehydrating. Its water-based formula with SPF 15 boosts moisture, while its increased color density revitalizes your complexion. And its remarkably lightweight formula won't settle into lines or wrinkles. Try using a brush to apply this product-this technique creates a polished makeup look and provides precise application. Best of all, Vital Radiance makes it easier than ever for 50+ women to look their best, offering free tips, advice and product samples. Just call (800) RADIANT seven days a week to speak to a live Beauty Specialist.

  • Finishing Touches. One of my favorite tips is using a light powder blush in a bronze hue to add dimension and highlight cheekbones. With a large dome-shaped brush, sweep the color from the cheekbone across the nose to the other side of the face as well as on the temples and along the hairline. The combination of the rounded brush and the bronze hue achieves a vibrant yet natural, sun-kissed look.

With the right products, any 50+ woman can enhance her natural beauty for a revitalized, radiant look.

Make-up Removal 101

It is important for people of all ages to take care of their skin.  In the hectic modern lives we live, it is often too easy to neglect one's health and wellbeing.  The state of your skin says a lot about the state of your overall health, and with that in mind we have created a summary of how to properly remove make-up and cosmetics.

At the end of a busy day, it is difficult to resist the urge to go directly to bed without removing your make-up first, trust me it happens to all of us.  This is problematic for a number of reasons.  Make-up tends to clog the pores of your skin, which can lead to significant skin problems.  Your skin needs a chance to breathe, so it has the opportunity to regenerate itself.  If you go to bed at night while still wearing your make-up, you are simply asking for trouble, I should know and definitely learned my lesson.

You should begin by pulling your hair back and tying it in a ponytail.  The best place to begin is with your eye make-up.  Using a cotton ball that has been moistened with make-up remover, gently remove the make-up from the areas around your eyes.  Wipe each eye gently, until all cosmetic traces have been removed.  Be careful to avoid getting it in your eyes.

The next step is to perform a proper facial cleansing.  There are a number of excellent products on the market today, so take some time and do some research about each of them. Test a couple of different products, and be sure that you end up with one that is ideal for your skin type.  Place a small amount of your chosen cleanser into the palm of your hand, and lather it on your moistened face. You can always make your own makeup remover. I have provided an easy and very effective recipe for a makeup remover.

During this stage of your daily cleansing ritual, you should pay special attention to cleansing the areas where your make-up was applied.  It is best to use lukewarm water, as it will assist in the breakdown of your make-up and will ensure that your cleanser is able to reach its optimal lather.  Take your time, and be sure you don't miss any of the areas where make-up was applied.  Rinse with warm water at the appropriate time, and be sure to remove all of the cleanser.  When you have completed this step, do it again.  Pat your face dry with a clean towel.

Proper facial cleansing is a simple procedure, but if it is not done regularly and in the proper manner your skin can become damaged.  As we have said, your skin needs to be able to breath to maintain optimal health and regenerate itself.  Try to incorporate a proper cleansing into your bedtime routine.  Your skin will thank you for it.

What to Look For In a Beauty Supply Store

Are you interested in updating your beauty products and supplies or are you just interested in replenishing your supply?  If you are, you will need to find a beauty supply store to shop at, if you don't already have a favorite one.  When it comes to finding the perfect beauty supply store to shop at, it may require a little bit of time and research, but it will likely be more than worth it in the end. For instance, you could end up saving yourself a considerable amount of time and possibly even money by taking the time to find the perfect beauty supply store to shop at.

When it comes to finding the perfect beauty supply store to shop at, there are a number of factors that you may want to think about taking into consideration.  One of those factors is location.  If you live in a large town or city, there is a good chance that you have a beauty supply store or even a number of them nearby.  However, if you live in a small town, you may have to travel quite some distance to find a popular or highly rated and recommend beauty supply store.  If that is the case and you do not want to travel, but you still need to buy your beauty supplies and products, you need to remember that beauty supply stores come in a number of different formats. In addition to storefront locations, beauty stores are also operated online as well.

The products sold at a beauty supply store are also something else that you should take into
consideration, when trying to find the perfect beauty supply store to shop at. Beauty supply stores commonly sell hair care products, nail care products, skin care products, makeup, and much more, but there aren't any guarantees.  If you are able to get the telephone number of a local beauty supply store, you may want to think about contacting the store in question to learn more about the products that they carry. This can save you time, especially if the beauty supply store is a distance away from your home. Also, for the largest selection of beauty supplies and products, you may want to think about shopping online.

In addition to the types of products sold at a beauty store, you may also want to examine the prices that those products are being sold for. What you need to remember is that beauty products and supplies cost different amounts of money. For instance, you should be prepared to pay more for a curling iron than you would if you were just shopping for some shampoo and conditioner.  With that in mind, however, you can still examine the prices that a particular beauty supply store charges.  Be on the lookout for products that seem like they are priced too high.  Some beauty supply owners, like all other retailers, are known to overcharge some of their clients, in hopes of making a larger profit.

The staff at a beauty supply store should also be taken into consideration, especially if you are looking for a local store to shop at.  If you have never visited the beauty store in question, you may not necessarily know what their staff is like. Should you choose to visit or shop at the store, pay close attention to the staff.  Beauty supply stores are often known for their helpful staff.  If you regularly have a difficult time buying beauty supplies and products, you may want to make sure that you shop at a beauty supply store that has a reputation of being helpful, kind, and compassionate.

The above mentioned factors are just a few of the many that you may want to keep in mind, when looking to find the perfect beauty supply store to shop at.  For a large selection of beauty supply stores to visit or get a closer look at, you may to think about using your local phone book, performing a standard internet search, using an online business directory, or asking those that you know for recommendations.

Makeup Brushes

We all know that eyeshadow can be smeared on the eye with your finger and lipstick is desinged to go on your lips without a brush.
Then why splurge on Makeup Brushes?

Well, makeup brushes help you apply your makeup http://konac.kontera.com/javascript/lib/imgs/grey_loader.gifwith greater precision, and they create a considerable difference to the finished look. Trust me when I say that no makeup artist would be found without them. A set of good quality makeup brushes could be the best investment you'll make.
Types of brushes:
  • Foundation Brush
  • Concealer brush
  • Powder brush
  • Eyeshadow brushes (My favorite)
  • Blush brush
  • Lip brush (trust me it makes a difference)
You can usually find makeup brushes in any cosmetic store such as Sephora, Ulta, and Department Stores but if you don’t want to spend a lot of money I would Google and search for a set of brushes for a reasonable price.

One of my favorite eyeshadow brushes is from ELF and its only $1.
